Ain’t That Lovin’ You?

She met Jesus, the in the beginning, God…the until the end God.  A life-changing moment happened for this woman.  The woman at the well.  If you really thought about it, you could be that woman.  Today, I am that woman.

After listening to “I Love You More Than You’ll Ever Know,” by the incomporable Donny Hathaway I got some disturbing news.  It was unexpected, surprising.  I stood in disbelief and confusion, inquisitively wondering what I was to do with the information I had.

Secret closet time I said.  I was having a moment, a moment probably quite similar to the woman at the well.  “Is that any way for a man to carry on?” Donny Hathaway sang in my ear.  The spirit clearly spoke, “Ain’t that lovin you?” and right then, right there, I didn’t get it.  “Ain’t that lovin you?”

All I could think about was Jesus.  Through this days trials, He still thinks about me, “Ain’t that Lovin’ You?” he whispered in my ear.  All those angels he had encamped around me, the ministers and advisors He had speak encouragement, wisdom and exhortation, “Ain’t that lovin’ you?” He affirmed.  He directs my path each and everyday, reminding me that [I] should visit

Him every morning, and try Him every moment [Job 7:18], and beloved daughter, “Ain’t that lovin you?”

Each day is a new day for me to keep my eyes on God.  Never once has He failed me, and He wouldn’t fail me on the day of disturbing news.  He would open my mind to receive, hear, and respond to Him.  Though the situation was out of my hands, because I gave it to Him–I knew God’s hands were much better than mine  He gave me permission to cast all my cares upon Him.  He cares for me.  With that, my spirit is kept at peace.  With prayer and thanksgiving I make my supplications known and ask and follow His instruction.  Knowing that it won’t be long before He replies.

He’s always on time.

He knows the perfect timing for the obstacles of my life, and He continues to say sweetly and without hesitation, “Ain’t that lovin you?” When He wakes you up in the morning?  When you are closed in your right mind?  When you have the activity of your limbs?  Your health is unfaltering, not failing, flourishing.  You are protected by His hedge and that roof over your head.  Your body is clothed and you’re feeling fine.  Your family is thriving and your hairdo is bouncing and behaving.  The job is His and He gave it to you.  Ain’t that Loving You?

Our light affliction is only but for a moment, and it works for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.  Of glory.  Of glory.  His glory.  That’s love ain’t it ladies?

And ain’t THAT lovin you, too?

Blessings,

An Empty Vessel

  1. This is well said, poetically it just sings, and just when I’m feeling down on my self, hopeless about my circumstance, and anxious about my situation, I can hear that mantra, “Ain’t that lovin’ you?” Yeah, that’s lovin me. And I love Him too!

This is yet another reminder of just how much our GOD really loves and ministers to us. Just when you are about to throw in the rope, give up and drown HE throws another line for us to grab onto. “Ain’t that lovin’ you?” Absolutely!! And I am so glad HE does!!!!

    Keep the Faith

There is a song “Aint That Lovin You”, I think it’s by Eric Clapton and if memory serves me right some of the word go like this:

You don’t know me, like I know myself, I just want to love you, but you leave me on the shelf, ain’t that lovin’ you?

God continues to do GREAT things in our lives and we continue to walk around and act as though we don’t know HIM. Not only does he want to love us, but he continues to show his love for us even when we put him on the shelf and try to handle things and situations ourselves. He patiently sits on the shelf and allows us to think we are realy handling something. Then when we finally realize we can’t handle it and he has already handled it, we hear him softly saying to us AINT THAT LOVIN YOU…

    Letting HIM LOVE me,
    Demetria
