My life’s journey has given me the opportunity to come in contact with so many wonderfully strong women, women who are tragically beautiful and amazingly resilient. I’ve learned so much from them, sitting at their feet, listening to their wisdom as they cooked, changed diapers, and cleaned up their houses. I am the woman I am because of the league of extraordinary women God has placed in my life.
Two years ago in April I had an opportunity to honor these women with a brunch. I copied Oprah’s vision for the Legend’s brunch and did it on the scale that my own pocketbook could afford. All of the women wore purple, and all the younger women in the family got the opportunity to verbally affirm and honor the older women who have impacted our lives. We just wanted to say thank you. After that, for the remainder of the year several younger women sent anonymous thank you notes to all of the seasons sisters in our family, acknowledging them for the very specific and unique differences they made in our lives. The women were just delighted and infectiously flattered by all of the attention we gave them.
Few are these Naomi/Ruth moments in our lives. Few are the opportunities to give shout outs to the women who have flavored our lives so well. I want to give you the opportunity to do that today, here and now. Give the Who’s That Lady a shout out in the comment section of the blog. I think I’ve done enough writing for the day, I want to hear from you.
So, Go to the comment section and honor your “Who’s That Lady?” Tell us why she’s so special to you, and then send email everyone you know so that they will know why she’s so special. I can’t wait to hear about the wonderful women of excellence God has placed in our midst.
Always Becoming,
DiAnne
